| Rebecca Herring is a native of Charlotte and has been active in arts and education for most of her life. She is a graduate of UNCC with a major in Education and Religious Studies. Her Master of Arts degree in Special Education and Music Education was earned from Johnson State in Vermont where she received the Milton J. Rettinburg Scholarship for Outstanding Achievement in Piano Studies while studying with Susan Halligan, international concert artist. As the Education Coordinator with the KOSA International Percussion Conference, she collaborated with Pierre Beliuse, of the Montreal Symphony and served as an on-call percussionist for that orchestra. During her time in Vermont, Mrs. Herring became a highly sought after motivational and advocate speaker in the areas of Education and Support for Arts programming in the schools. An enthusiastic educator, she has held teaching positions from middle school through the college level and has been active as a singer, educator, accompanist and conductor for more than 29 years.
