When Susie and I opened the doors of Masterworks six years ago, our goal was to establish the area's first comprehensive arts school where both children and adults could study music, dance, visual art and theatre in one location.  We knew that every student who came through our doors would have a different dream.  Some would want to perform on Broadway or attend Julliard.  Others might aspire to be the next American Idol, form a band, or lead a music team at church or school.  One would want to paint like Picasso, while one would be satisfied to paint their room.  Other simply might want to develop skills they had abandoned in childhood. While all of our students have different goals, we knew our singular mission would serve each student well: provide each student with the highest quality arts education possible and develop skills that can be used for a lifetime.

Six years have passed quickly and we have had the joy of watching Masterworks develop from a fledging initiative to a thriving arts school.  Our students are being recognized for their accomplishments on local and national levels.  Our second location opened in Mooresville last year and , along with our Davidson location, is slated for expansion this coming November.  All of this growth has been an energizing factor at Masterworks.  we have watched our faculty grow from six to over 25, unsurpassed in education, experience and a genuine concern for the well being and progress of their students.  our innovative, one of a kind programs, Masterclasses, and regular semester recitals have expanded in number and effectiveness.  The numbers of disciplines we offer now include dance, drama and art.  Families are now able to experience multiple areas of study without running from studio to studio.  Our student populace has more than quadrupled-we now have the privilege of serving over 400 families while providing more areas of vocal and instrumental instruction than any other school in the Lake Norman region.  And our Broadway show Choir program which began with eight students now involves 150 young people and adults in six separate cast, doing three different full scale theatrical productions each semester.  The program has now been recognized as the largest and most comprehensive completely children's theatrical program in the Lake Norman area.

Our orchestra is flourishing and is proving to be an exceptional training ground for our string students.  The "School of Rock" band performed at multiple venues last semester and will continue to sharpen their skills this year.  Student ensembles, faculty groups, and individual performers will continue to perform and serve in the region as part of the Masterworks Outbound program.  Are we the best because we're growing?  No, actually it's just the opposite; I believe we are growing because we are constantly striving to provide the best instruction possible.  Our teachers, innovative programs, students and commitment to excellence make Masterworks a one of a kind arts experience.  We hope you and your family will enjoy the "Masterworks Experience."
